Your very own Chelmer Super team have once again been in action, this time on the ECCA (Counties) 100 mile time trial on the 27th June.
Taking fifth place overall with an all time personal best of 3 hours 51 minutes and 14 seconds, some 5 minutes and 32 seconds faster than his 2007 club record, and being 2nd placed ECCA rider, your Club Captain, Antony Stapleton, came home first of the Chelmer riders at 09.49.14hrs.
Hot on his wheels Daniel Babbs finished his first ever 100 to take 2nd place on handicap in 4 hours, 37 minutes and 11 seconds.
The first trio was completed by Neil Hornett coming home at 10.08.36 hrs in 4 hours 7 minutes and 36 seconds. This produced an overall team time of 12 hours, 36 minutes and 1 second, breaking the time set in 1990 by Sue Wright, D Sharpe and R Tyrrell of 12 hours, 40 minutes and 23 seconds.
Some 6 minutes later at 10.14.54 hours John Golder finished in 4 hours, 7 minutes and 54 seconds, breaking not only the team record that had just been set but Jim Perrin's 1987 50 to 60 age record by 2 minutes and 37 seconds. The new team record now stands at 12 hours 6 minutes and 44 seconds.
With this time the Chelmer took 2nd ECCA team, only missing out on winnng by less than 3 minutes to the Finsbury Park. Stapleton, Hornett and Golder were placed third team on scratch, and recording times of 4 hours, 27 minutes and 15 seconds Richard Mellor and Peter Horsnell with 5 hours, 1 minute and 27 seconds; Babbs, Mellor and Horsnell took 5th team.
Our dynamic Vets team led by the ever young Peter Hornsell, of Horsnell, Golder and Stapleton won the VTTA East Anglian Team Trophy on standard.
Our congratulations to them all.
